Kelly Hammargren is perhaps more knowledgeable on city affairs than any other Berkeleyan. She attends most of Berkeley’s Council and committee meetings and chronicles them in her Activist’s Diary. In this installment, she endorses our Fix-the-Streets measure, in part because the competing measure will fund the bicycle lobby’s “what were you thinking” kinds of changes to our streets and fails to consider the needs of disabled and mobility-limited persons and their caregivers. Fix-the-Streets, she says, also puts better oversight and evaluation into the mix.
