Berkeleyans for Better Planning was formed to oppose Measure L in 2022, a vaguely defined, multi-purpose, $650 million bond measure placed on the ballot by the City Council.  Our successful campaign was actively supported by over 250 Berkeleyans.  BFBP Steering Committee members are ordinary Berkeley resident-volunteers who seek to improve the City’s planning and management practices so that our tax dollars are spent effectively and for the betterment of our entire community.  Ultimately, we expect to see the City pay for basic municipal services through its general fund.

Friends of Hopkins Street voted to endorse BFBP’s Fix the Streets and Sidewalks initiative because it aspires to fix all of Berkeley’s crumbling streets, starting with those in the worst condition, and all sidewalks and pedestrian pathways.  FOHS is now an active part of the campaign.  FOHS is an all-volunteer educational and advocacy group formed by and for Hopkins Street residents, neighbors, business owners, and friends.  It advocates equitable, safe, evidence-based, and common-sense designs for Hopkins Street.
